Course Objectives:
Chinse III / IV course is on further developing students’ abilities to participate in practical conversations on everyday topics as well as enhancing their abilities on reading and writing. It introduces extensive vocabulary and usage as a basis for conversational development. Upon completion of Chinese III and IV, students should be able to speak Chinese with fluency on everyday topics and read materials written in simple standard written Chinese and produce both orally and in writing short compositions. It includes performance of basic conversations, questions and discussion, and various types of communicative exercises.

- Easy Step To Chinese Textbook, book III & WorkBook ( Class set, supply by school)
- iPad ( classroom cart , supply by school )
- Loose-leaf notebook paper and binder ( supply by student)
- Pen/pencil ( supply by student)
- 3 x 5 Index cards ( supply by student)
Learning Goals
1. Relatives: Be able to introduce the family members and relatives and describe the relationships and where they live.
2. Appearance: Be able to describe your appearance and the appearance of people or objects.
3. Seeing a Doctor: Be able to describe common cold and allergy symptoms to the doctor and talk abut the treatments.
4. Seasons: Be able to talk abot the weather in four seasons, compare weather in two places and present a simple weather forecast.
5. Occupations: Be able to name some common professions, describe the family member's occupaton, where do they work and the outfits they wear for work.
6. Hobbies: Be able to talk about the hobbies and common activies that take place in different seasons.
7. Subjects of Study: Be able to describe your daily rountine and talk about your subjects and the course preferences.
8. School Facilities: Be able to talk about school and its surroundings, describe the location of buildings and classrooms in relation to one another.
9. Stationery: Be able to name common stationeries and inquire the cost of the items.
10. Fresh Market : Be able to name common foodstuff , fruits, vegetables, meats, poultries in the market and the cost in Chinese currency.
11. Snacks: Be able to name some common snacks and describe dietary preferences.
12. Eating Out: Know how to name and order popular Chinese dishes. Be able to describe the meal, pay for meal and get change.
13. Neighborhood: Be able to describe your neighborhood and identify locations by using landmarks/ stores as references.
14. Asking the Way: Be able to ask for and give directions, describe where you are heading and how long does it take.
15. Neighbors: Be able to talk about your house , its surroundings, and express the reasons why you like/dislike your neighbors.
